Imagine a place so wild and pristine that you could almost believe you were the first human to experience it. Watch the deer, elk, caribou, Stone Sheep, moose and grizzly carry on their daily rituals, paying little to no heed to your presence. Develop an eye for reading the land, drink in the awe-inspiring beauty of nature's canvas, and feel - if only for a moment - the melodious harmony of nature's uncensored song.
Join Wayne and his team on a summer expedition into the "Serengeti of the North", the Muskwa-Kechika. A variety of special interest horseback expeditions are planned every summer. High profile individuals such as renowned artists, radio and television personalities, film crews and scientists often join the trips, much to the delight of all involved. For example, a
National Geographic documentary film crew participated in the summer of 2007. Camp exploration themes change according to participant needs and interests, so be sure to let Wayne know what kind of journey you would like to embark upon so that he can select the right one for you.
TRIP OPTIONS
In 2010, we will be offering four options for exploring the Northern Rockies.
Horseback Expedition
Approximately 12 day duration, these are full-on expedition spots. Life on expedition is rigorous, and a reasonable level of fitness is required. Usually, the packstring will be on the trail for two or three days, then a camp day. Guests will assist with saddling and packing and camp activities depending on their abilities. All folks share cooking duties. On a 12 day trip with six people, each person will be responsible for supplying and preparing two suppers for the group. Participants will be responsible for their own breakfast and lunch. Choose food that does not require refrigeration, such as dried foods, rice dishes, pasta, etc, Also, best to be light on the cans to cut down weight.
Cost: $2495.00 CAD plus GST.
Mayfield Lake Base Camp Experience
These relaxing vacations are one week in duration, and include all food, lodging, transportation to and from Fort Nelson, as well as horse, sauna, and canoe use at the Mayfield Base Camp. Cook supplied - all you do is enjoy!
Cost: $2950.00 CAD plus GST.
Prophet Hotsprings Horseback Photography Expedition
This 6 day trip will feature a day's ride, each way, between the Prophet River Head Camp and the Prophet River Hotsprings, where spectacular opportunities for wildlife photography abound.
Cost: $1495.00 CAD plus GST.
Child and Nature Camp
Children 8-16, accompanied by a family member, will enjoy an unstructured opportunity to develop a personal relationship with nature.
Cost: TBA, depending on sponsorships.
